Establishment

The Saudi Spine Society is a multidisciplinary scientific society. The idea of the Saudi Spine Society started on April 24, 2014 to establish a scientific society under the umbrella of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. It became a reality following approval of the Board of Trustees of the Commission on 9/9/2015; through board decision no. 17/A/36, dated 25/11/1436H. It was established to serve spine practice and promote excellence in all disciples in Saudi Arabia and the region caring for the spine.

The Foundation Committee

A group of 75 founding members was assembled. A temporary foundation committee consisting of five healthcare professionals was nominated to finalize the logistics of establishing the Society. The members of the Foundation Committee were: Dr. Sami Al-Eissa (Chairman), Dr. Khaled Almusree, Dr. Salah Fallatah, Dr. Husam Al-Habeeb, and Dr. Maan Kattan. The final approval to establish the Saudi Spine Society by His Excellency the Minister of Health was issued on September 9, 2015.

 

The First Board of Directors

The First General Assembly meeting of the society took place on March 26, 2016 at the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Headquarter in Riyadh. During that meeting, the first Board of Directors was elected.
